Wa Rousoku - Japanese Handcrafted Candles

With techniques and materials straight from the 16th century, wa-rousoku candles are made by only a handful of Japanese craftsmen today. This Japanese traditional candle is formed by 'painting' layers of Laquer Tree seed wax on a core of washi paper wrapped around igusa reed. This ancient method results in a candle with very little smoke and a brighter light than modern paraffin candles.
