Chopsticks & Accessories
Chopsticks were originally used exclusively for religious ceremonies in Japan. The earliest chopsticks used for eating looked like tweezers; they were made from one piece of bamboo that was joined at the top. By the 10th Century, chop sticks were being produced in two separate pieces.
By the 17th century the Japanese were using lacqueured wooden chopsticks - an innovation that gave the utensils an attractive gloss and made them easier to clean.
