Our Lotus Basin is hand carved from beige granite. This is one of our most popular basins in that it is a traditional Japanese design that dates back to the earliest Shinto shrines where they held water used for ritual cleansing. The tea ceremony (sado), infused with the spirit of Zen, required a purity of mind and body. To this end, this stone basin was later included in tea gardens so that guests could symbolically dip their hands before entering the teahouse. Our 13" x 24" Lotus Basin weighs approximately 350 lbs. and is best suited for outdoor applications.
